This page explains fingerprinting on FBI FD-258 cards and other agency-specific fingerprint cards, including when you must bring your own card and confirm eligibility before scheduling.

FBI FD-258 fingerprint cards are commonly required for out-of-state licensing, federal applications, expungements, firearm-related requirements, and other agency requests. In these cases, fingerprints are captured and printed onto the physical fingerprint card rather than submitted electronically.
In addition to standard FD-258 cards, some agencies require state-specific or agency-specific fingerprint cards. These cards are not interchangeable and must be processed according to the requesting agency’s instructions.
SwiftDocs & Fingerprints can assist with fingerprinting on FD-258 cards and select non-FD-258 cards when requirements are confirmed in advance.
Submitting the wrong card or missing instructions may result in rejection by the requesting agency.
Requests may include, but are not limited to:
If your card is not listed, contact us before booking to confirm eligibility.

If multiple fingerprint cards are required, additional cards may be completed during the same visit when permitted.
